The Assessment & Strengthening of Structures course organised by Annamalai University Alumni Association Singapore Chapter was successfully conducted on 9 November 2025 at Sinda Auditorium, 1 Beatty Road, Singapore 209943. The programme brought together about 30 participants from the engineering community who were keen to enhance their knowledge in structural assessment and strengthening practices.
The course commenced at about 9:30 am with a welcome address delivered by the course coordinator, Mr. Rajaraman Balasubramanian (2006 C&S).
The training session was led by Er. Dr. Krishnan Murugappan (1987 C&S), who shared his expertise and practical insights on assessment techniques, common structural deficiencies, and suitable strengthening methods. His presentation included real-life case studies, which helped participants relate theory to practice. The interactive nature of the session encouraged questions and discussions, making the learning experience engaging & beneficial.
A 20-minute tea break was given at 11:00 am, allowing participants to network and exchange professional ex- periences. The course concluded at around 1:00 pm, followed by lunch.
The event was made possible through the support of several volunteers and sponsors. Lunch for the course was generously sponsored by Er. Rengasamy Selvaraju (1991 C&S). Snacks and lunch arrangements were coor- dinated by Mr. Gnanasundaram Manavalagan (1999 Civil). Registration duties were efficiently handled by Mr. Ramalingam Dharmalingam (1989 Civil) and Mr. Adhinarayanan Saravanakumar (1995 C&S), ensuring a smooth start to the programme.
A vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Swaminathan Ramanathan (2006 Civil), who expressed appreciation to the trainer, organisers, sponsors, and participants for contributing to the success of the event. Certificates were issued to all attendees via email.
